Hello, this is Connie Loutzenhiser, Principal of Eagle Lake Elementary. I am writing to inform our Eagle Lake Elementary families that during this school year we are required to constantly practice Fire and Lock-Down Drills. These drills will take place on a monthly basis. Practice drills are a critical part of our safe schools’ plan to help prepare our students and staff in case of a real emergency. We take all threats very seriously and will continue to provide a safe learning environment. Our students and staff’s safety is of the highest priority. Please talk with your child about the importance of these drills and following the directions given to them by their teacher to aid in their continued safety.
We’ve also welcomed a new Guardian, Stephen Diaz, to our staff to guide and work as a team for the safety of everyone at Eagle Lake Elementary. He comes to us with experience and training to provide this support. This Guardian has been provided by Polk County Schools and is part of “The Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Act.”
Another safety procedure that is in place is with checking students out through the office. You must have proper identification in order to check your student out. Without proper identification, the student(s) will not be released.
Safety first and always,
Connie A. Loutzenhiser
